Football Development - Eagles Football Academy
Aim
To identify and develop talented junior footballers within the Woodville West Torrens promotional zone, metropolitan and country, and provide them with a pathway to play football at the highest level.
Program Outline
The Eagles Football Academy (EFA) is an innovative program that will provide an opportunity for all junior footballers and coaches from within the WWTFC promotional zone to improve their football skills and knowledge.
The EFA program will be structured to ensure minimal disruptions to School and Club football competitions and will address concerns that junior footballers in our promotional zone are playing too much football.
The EFA will provide these elite players with education and training in all aspects of football including skills, fitness, nutrition and game sense to initially prepare them for the Under 15 State Championships but ultimately for opportunities that lie ahead including State Under 16 Scholarship Squads, Under 17 football with the Eagles and beyond.
Underpinning the program will be our Metropolitan and Country Development Squads from which participants will aspire to be added to the EFA.
Opportunities will also be given to the most talented participants in the Under 13 & 14 age groups to represent the Eagles.
Criteria
All footballers that live within their respective SANFL Clubs promotional zone are eligible to represent their respective League Club.
Whilst footballers from outside the WWTFC promotional zone are also eligible it must be noted that only one out of zone player can be selected to represent a league club in the U15 State Championships.
Selection
Each local Junior District League Club and School from within the Woodville West Torrens promotional zone, in consultation with the WWTFC Football Development Manager and EFA Head Coach, will nominate footballers from within their teams with the potential to play at a higher level.
Whilst the EFA will be tailored to suit the needs of the most talented footballers from within the WWTFC promotional zone participants in Junior Club and School competitions may receive an invitation at anytime into our Development Squads with the possibility of being added to the EFA.
The EFA Head Coach (Metro) and Zone Coaches (Country) will attend local football games and liase with all coaches in an endeavour to further identify talented footballers capable of participating in the academy.
The EFA Head Coach will make direct contact with these footballers and their parents to offer an invitation to attend the EFA and will notify the school or local club of the invitation.
Any additions to or omissions from the EFA will be at the discretion of the EFA Head Coach in consultation with the WWTFC Football Development Manager.
