Match Report – Shane Grimm – Coach

The Grand Final started with both teams crashing in as expected, but it was the Eagles who held sway for the majority of the first term. In accuracy in front of goal was looking like it could cost the Eagles early but they still entered the quarter time break with a 5 point lead. The Eagles started the second term well and opened up a 10 point lead before turnovers and errors cost the Eagles and Sturt managed to kick  the next 4 goals of the game before the Eagles managed to finish the quarter with the last 2 goals to remain in touch at Half Time trailing by 4 points.

The third quarter was another tight struggle with both teams giving everything, but it was the Double Blues who managed to stretch their lead to 11 points at the final break.

The Final term was again a very dour affair with Sturt again looking like they were about to break the game open, but the Eagles stayed strong in both effort and belief and managed to kick 3 unanswered goals to run out 6 point winners and take out the 2012 Under 18 Macca’s Cup Premiership.

Matthew Appleton was awarded the Alan Richardson Medal for best player.
